“Great location and a really practical base for exploring the area. We could get to everything we wanted to see without any hassle. The neighbourhood felt safe and had plenty of places to eat nearby.”

Walking Krakowskie Przedmieście and the Old Town
Krakowskie Przedmieście is Lublin’s main pedestrian spine, running from Plac Litewski down to the Kraków Gate. Street musicians play on summer evenings and most of the city’s cafés and ice cream spots sit along this stretch.
Through the Kraków Gate you step into Stare Miasto, where Rynek square, the Crown Tribunal and Grodzka street form a compact loop you can cover in an hour. The underground route beneath the Old Town runs about 300 metres and tickets are around 12 złoty.
Lublin Castle and the Chapel of the Holy Trinity
Lublin Castle sits on a hill just east of the Old Town and houses the Lublin Museum. The Chapel of the Holy Trinity inside is covered in Byzantine-Ruthenian frescoes from 1418, which is rare for a Catholic church in Poland.
Museum entry is around 19 złoty for adults and the chapel ticket is separate at roughly 15 złoty. Tuesdays usually bring reduced or free admission to the permanent collection.
Majdanek and Day-Long Cultural Stops
The State Museum at Majdanek is on the city’s eastern edge and reachable by MPK bus 23 from the centre. Entry is free, and most visitors spend two to three hours walking the memorial grounds.
For a lighter cultural day, head to Centrum Spotkania Kultur on Plac Teatralny for concerts and rooftop views, or catch a performance at the NN Theatre Grodzka Gate focused on Lublin’s Jewish heritage.
Parks, Rivers and Green Space
Ogród Saski on Krakowskie Przedmieście covers about 12 hectares and is Lublin’s oldest public park. The Botanical Garden on Sławinkowska street is further out and opens April through October for around 12 złoty entry.
For a longer walk, follow the Bystrzyca river trail from Park Ludowy toward Zemborzyce lake on the southern edge of the city. The lake has rental kayaks in summer for about 30 złoty an hour.
Evenings, Bars and Live Music
Hades Szeroka on Grodzka street is a long-running jazz and cocktail venue in a vaulted cellar. Krakowskie Przedmieście has terrace bars like Między Słowami and Czarna Owca that fill up from 7pm.
Summer outdoor cinema runs in Ogród Saski and at the Centrum Spotkania Kultur rooftop for around 15 to 20 złoty. Check the CSK programme for seasonal concerts and food festivals on Plac Teatralny.
Family-Friendly Stops and Rainy Days
The Open Air Village Museum on Warszawska street holds reconstructed Lublin-region farmsteads and works well with kids on dry days. Entry runs around 20 złoty for adults.
On rainy afternoons, the interactive exhibits at Centrum Spotkania Kultur and the Lublin Museum at the castle give you two to three hours indoors. Aqua Lublin on Zawilcowa street covers pool and sauna time for about 25 złoty.
Planning a Two-Day Itinerary
Day one: spend the morning walking Krakowskie Przedmieście and the Old Town, visit the Kraków Gate museum and break for lunch at Mandragora. Afternoon is for Lublin Castle and the Chapel of the Holy Trinity.
Day two: take the underground route tour, head to Majdanek for a sobering morning, then close with sunset views from Centrum Spotkania Kultur. Dinner at Magia or Hades rounds the day off.
